
Tough test for Kenyan Clubs as CAVB Championship gets underway

The continental showpiece has 16 teams participating.
Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women's league champions Prisons Kenya landed a favourable Pool C as the draw for the Africa Women's Club Championships was conducted on Saturday night in Tunisia.
The Josp Barasa coached side will face Ethiopia’s National Alcohol, Rwanda's APR and CNS Spikers of Nigeria in the group stage as they look to land a favourable pairing in the round of 16.
KVF silver medalist KCB who are making a return to the championship since 2019 are in pool B which has defending champion CF Carthage of Tunisia, ASEC MIMOSA of Ivory Coast and Ndejje University of Uganda.

Kenya's third representatives and former continental champions Kenya Pipeline are in pool D that has record champions Al Ahly, Customs of Nigeria and El Wak Wings of Ghana.
Pool A has hosts Kelibia of Tunisia, RRA of Rwanda, VCL of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and FAP of Cameroon.
The three Kenya Clubs are in action on the opening day with Japeth Munala's charges KCB getting action underway against ASEC Mimosa at noon.
Barasa will guide his charges against the Nigerian CNS Spikers at 2 pm as the Wardresses look to do one better than they did last year and feature in the final. They finished third last year.

Kenya Pipeline will be the last team in action today, facing off with Customs at 8 pm. The oilers finished fifth in last year's outing and coach Paul Gitau will be keen to guide his charges to a better finish.
